Ages 4-8

Birds of a Feather
Explore the world of our colorful friends and neighbors as well as their habitat found right outside your back door.  Welcome them with a new birdbath or birdhouse as well as other fun projects.

Walk Like an Egyptian
Explore the Valley of the Kings with the Pharaohs, mummy cases, scarabs, hieroglyphs and bas relief plaques for your future archeologist.

Ports of Call
Climb aboard the USS Craft Guild cruise ship as we visit carious cultures and learn about their art.  We will visit the Yucatan Peninsula and central Mexico before going to the beaches of South Florida and then magically sailing to the South Pacific!

Out of this World
Launch into a week of science fiction fun.  We’ll build intergalactic spaceships and create our own fantasy worlds filled with friendly alien life.

Wild Things
Lions and tigers and bears – OH MY!  From real wild animals to imaginary ones we will launch a safari into our own imaginations.

Paper and Fibers
Explore the fascinating world of paper and fiber sculpture.  We’ll introduce various techniques including knotting. binding. folding, dipping and pleating to transform blank surfaces into delightful colors and designs.  Then create collages by cutting pieces of your dyed patterned fabric to create a landscape, portrait or still life.  Student will discover how to reveal texture, colors, depth and high contrast by layering fabric and setting it with heat.

Pirates of the Prairie
Make your own treasure chest, design your own doubloons, and create your own ship’s flag to wave over the ship.  Instead of a telescope, you’ll carry the kaleidoscope you make in this great summer camp!

Ages 8-13

Creatures of the Deep
Get to know some underwater creatures with names like dragon fish angle, black devil, fang tooth, and viper fish.  Surviving at 2000 fee deep is enough to drive anyone to extremes.  Think you’ve dived deep enough?  You’ve hardly even scratched the surface!

Throwing Camp
Throw
it like you mean it!  Perfect for beginners of for those who would like to expand their experience on the potter’s wheel.  Student will learn centering, throwing, trimming and decorating techniques.

Night Owls
Explore your nighttime world during the day!  We will study nocturnal animals and other critters that “go bump in the night” and make things to take with us on our nighttime journey.

Put on pith helmet as we dig into the past, unearth artistic artifacts, and learn about ancient civilizations and their cultures.

Teen Jewelry
Back by popular demand!  From beads to bangles, various methods of jewelry construction and material will be employed to create wearable art!

Book Arts
Explore the fascinating world of paper sculpture and book structures.  Words jump to life in books that flap, spring, slide, and shimmy.  We’ll stretch paper and book making to the limit, while creating the framework for new visual stories.  Great preparation to journaling and vocabulary building!  Make your own paper, including using paste, stamping, and paint techniques.

Clay for Teens
A number of hand building techniques will be covered in this workshop for creating sculptural and functional ceramic forms.  This class will introduce numerous projects associated with hand building while working in high temperature clay.  Demonstrations will include slab construction, coil and pinch-forming methods, surface texturing, carving, and glazing techniques.  Completed work will be bisque-fired and students will select a glazing day so pieces can be high –fired in our outdoor gas kiln.  Students who sign up for both clay workshops will have an opportunity to raku-fire the work completed during the workshop
