Bits
and Pieces Mosaic - Learn how to transform
geometric shapes into i ntricate
patterns of delight. Whether experienced or novice, each mosaic experience
is sure bring delight and surprise upon completion. Students will experiment
with various textured surfaces of stone, glass, tile, shells and other found
objects. After selecting a design, each person creates flat and 3-D mosaic
masterpieces.
Omiyage (o-me-ya-ge)
(Handmade gifts from fabric) -
A gift made of fabric can be the most intimate one can
give. It is made with the hands and the good wishes it carries, and
comse directly from the heart. Join VET as you enter
the world of Omiyage,
the Japanese tradition of making and offering tiny, but delightful things.
This workshop will combine eastern and western methods of creating lavish
hand stitched gifts. Select from one of several tiny projects that may
include a tiny sachet, phone/glasses cover, doll, pouches and more. Perfect
to share with someone special.
Fabric
Collage - Learn the unique method of
cutting pieces of fabric to create a fabulous landscape, portrait, or still
life. Work with, mixed media artist, VET, on "fabric
painted" projects that reveal texture, colors,
depth and high contrast by layering fabric and setting with heat and
adhesives. Students will select from various pattern layouts and then
transform them into a masterpiece worthy of framing.
Dyeing
to Design - This sampler series is just the
spark you need to generate luscious hues and spectacular designs on paper
and fabric. Get introduced to the use of color and design to create patterns
by using resistance dyeing, batik, printing and alternate resist methods.
VET, mixed media artist, introduces various techniques of knotting,
bindings, folding and dipping to produce a dazzling sampler series.
