MAKE & TAKE” BRACELETS:
USING THE BONNY DOON PRESS
This is the perfect
opportunity to make holiday presents while learning how to make jewelry in
silver or copper. In this one-day workshop, you will make three types of
1-inch cuff sterling silver bracelets using the press. All tools and
equipment are provided, and the supply fee covers all materials used to make
the completed projects. No previous jewelry or metalsmithing skills are
needed to take this workshop
Custom Tools and Techniques
Learn to make handmade customized tools for stone setting that can not be
purchased and learn the techniques to use them. Examples include chasing
tools for stone setting, a precision diagram measuring tool, soldering
stand, and many more. In addition to your normal jewelry tools, please
bring to class a “third arm” that we will be modifying (available locally
from Roseco for $30, catalog item DBM-546). Also, plan for a one-hour lunch
break. Supply fee will be $15, payable to the instructor.
Chainmaking--Byzantine, Queens,
Foxtail
Using only your pliers and jump rings, learn to make either one complete
bracelet or samples of each pattern offered (Byzantine, Queen’s Pattern, and
Foxtail chain). Make a simple S-clasp or bring your own. Tools and supplies
to bring: 2 pair flat nose pliers, 1 pair of round nose pliers, a ˝ round
needle file, and 1 oz. of 20 gauge round dead-soft sterling silver or copper
wire.
