METALS WORKSHOPS

MAKE & TAKE” BRACELETS:  USING THE BONNY DOON PRESS
This is the perfect opportunity to make holiday presents while learning how to make jewelry in silver or copper.  In this one-day workshop, you will make three types of 1-inch cuff sterling silver bracelets using the press.  All tools and equipment are provided, and the supply fee covers all materials used to make the completed projects.  No previous jewelry or metalsmithing skills are needed to take this workshop

Custom Tools and Techniques
Learn to make handmade customized tools for stone setting that can not be purchased and learn the techniques to use them.  Examples include chasing tools for stone setting, a precision diagram measuring tool, soldering stand, and many more.  In addition to your normal jewelry tools, please bring to class a “third arm” that we will be modifying (available locally from Roseco for $30, catalog item DBM-546).  Also, plan for a one-hour lunch break.  Supply fee will be $15, payable to the instructor.

Chainmaking--Byzantine, Queens, Foxtail
Using only your pliers and jump rings, learn to make either one complete bracelet or samples of each pattern offered (Byzantine, Queen’s Pattern, and Foxtail chain). Make a simple S-clasp or bring your own. Tools and supplies to bring: 2 pair flat nose pliers, 1 pair of round nose pliers, a ˝ round needle file, and 1 oz. of 20 gauge round dead-soft sterling silver or copper wire.
