Young Artists Ages 4-8

Child PaintingFamous Fairy Tales - In this camp your little prince or princess will spend a magical week creating projects that explore some of their favorite fairy tales. Young artists will explore a variety of media to create projects ranging from a whimsical clay castle to a self portrait as a beloved fairy tale character and many more.

Voyage to the Stars - Rocket into a galaxy of projects that meld science fiction fun with scientific facts about our universe.  Create alien creatures, build a spacecraft and paint a dazzling night sky.

Americana Kids - Travel back in time to early American pioneer days to experience the arts and crafts of early American life. Join a wagon trail west and meet interesting characters along the way as we learn about and create objects used in frontier life.

Rain Forest Friends - Express your wild side as we travel deep into the jungle. Meet the rich and colorful wildlife from ferocious tigers to slithering snakes and tropical toucans. We will create fascinating clay creatures and paint hidden Rainforest animals.

Pet Parade - We love our pets - from cuddly cats and dogs to colorful birds and fish - they are all part of our family. We will spend a week making special projects to pamper and honor these treasured family members.

Young Artists Age 8-13

Throwing - Throw it like you mean it!  Perfect for beginners or for those who would like to expand their experience on the potter’s wheel.  Students will learn centering, throwing, trimming and decorating techniques.

From Trash to Treasure - Re-use. Reclaim. Recycle. Spend a week creating beautiful works of art out of found objects and forgotten treasures. Encourage eco-awareness and have fun at the same time. cartooning

Hand Building Students will explore the various hand building techniques used in clay work to create fun, imaginative projects and pots. Instruction will be given in pinch-forming, coil, and slab construction methods. Work produced may be functional or sculptural, and students will decorate their own pieces with colors and designs of their choice. Finished pieces will then be glazed and fired by the instructors after the end of the camp session.

Gallant Knights and Fiery Dragons - Travel back to the days of chivalry and magic.  A medieval theme sets the tone for a rousing week of activities. Build a clay castle, design a fanciful paper mache dragon, and create other mystical projects.

Rainforest Safari - Join the mystery and excitement as we journey on a rainforest safari. Exotic animals and plants along the way will be our inspiration to create an array of colorful projects. Pack your safari hats and let’s go for a wild jungle ride!

Walk Like an Egyptian - Land of the pharaohs, land of mystery… Join a caravan to the Valley of the Kings and create some “artifacts” such as mummy cases, scarabs, and canopic jars in the Egyptian style. In our projects we will study and use hieroglyphs, designs and symbols unique to the art of this ancient civilization.

Element-al Art - Earth, Wind, Fire, Water! All cultures throughout history have honored these four traditional elements. In this camp we will create art projects based on and highlighting their particular special qualities.

Teen Fine Art Ages 13+

Bag It Up! - Join us for a week of designing and making fun new bags, totes and purses. We will use a variety of materials from an old pair of jeans to candy wrappers and felt. Impress your friends with your cool and unique new look!

Caligraphy

Kitchen Kommotion - Food fight!  Cookin up fun from clay to paint. Turn your ordinary kitchen into a work of art. Tie Dye aprons, hand felted coasters, and design other gifts for the most discriminating cooks. The “Iron Chef of Art” awaits you!

Bead Making - Take making your own jewelry one step further by creating your own beads. We will employ a variety of mediums and techniques to create your own individual and unique wearable creations.

Paper Cloth and Altered Art Camp - Combine fun papers and cloth…stamp, paint, alter…then create fun journals, puzzles, greeting cards, pillows or whatever you can imagine.

Hand Building for Teens - A number of hand building techniques will be covered for creating sculptural and functional ceramic forms. This class will offer a number of projects associated with hand building while working in high temperature clay. Demonstrations will include pinch-forming, coil, and slab construction methods, along with surface texturing, carving, and glazing techniques. Completed work will be bisque fired and students will select a glazing day so that pieces can be high fired in our outdoor gas kiln. In addition, students will be able to raku-fire one of their pieces on the last day of the camp.

*Students should wear old clothing and footwear, as many materials we will use will not wash out. NO FLIP-FLOPS! Each camp will take a 15 minute break so please provide your child with a small snack and drink each day. Please read all registration and refund policies carefully before you register.
