YOUNG ARTIST CLASSES

The Guild offers a variety of clay classes for students, aged 8 and up,  throughout the year, encouraging young artists to expand on their summer camp experiences in hand building and an introduction to the wheel.  These year-round classes augment the summer program, and are typically clay only.

Current schedule of classes.

CLAY – THROWING ON THE WHEEL
This extremely popular class focuses on learning to use the pottery wheel to make a variety of functional forms.  Young potters will practice centering, opening, and throwing as well as trimming, decorating, and glazing.  Thrown forms will be converted to cups, vases, pitchers, bowls and plates which are food, dishwasher, and microwave safe!  This class is perfect for the beginner or for those wishing for more experience and practice on the wheel.

CLAY – HANDBUILDING
Pinch, throw, roll, extrude, and texture, while learning basic handbuilding skills.  This class focuses on building techniques while creating both functional and decorative pieces such as cups, bowls,
platters, garden art, and a variety of vases, boxes and pieces you will treasure for years
